First we come to a infocomm heritage corner which is shown above, In this corner, many ancient technology such as the first computer, the type writer and telephones were displayed here.
A picture of the personal computer.
This is a timeline of how the technology had evolve from 1940s to the 2010, where the start of Next Gen NBN rollout.
The picture above shows the Next Gen NBN. We were taught by the guid that the Next Gen NBN is a ultra-high speed fibre network. This network is being used nationwide in Singapore. We were updated that by this year, 2012, majority, almost all the building will be wired up with the Next Gen NBN. All thanks to the ultra high speed fibre network, our nation were powered by info-communication and this will allow faster communicaton too.
Up next, we were brought to a side of the exhibition which was designed like a living room with a television, a table lamp and a curtain. we were showed that by using the IPTV, we were be able to use it to view internet computer and also to access to many services more conveniently.
We by using the IPTV, we were also able to control the table lamp and curtain with just a remote control like a phone or a tablet pc.
Then, we were lead to a classroom like corner where we were showed that how technology could be brought into the classroom to increase the effectiveness of studying. The picture above shows one of the computer like table where student could use this to view there homeworks and teaching slides. This programme works both sides, the teachers will be able to monitor what their student were doing and also stop them immediately if they were not focusing.
This picture above show a interactive catalogue which is already being used in some shopping malls in Korea. With this interactive catalogue, users will be able to try out items such as cosmetics, shirts just before deciding to purchase them. I think personally think that this catalogue will come in handy as it will let the user to test out their items and confirmed it before buying. This will be very convenient.
Last but not least, we were shown how the technology bring us convenienceeven in purchasing our daily groceries. Just by istalling an application into out smart phones, we will be able to access to a grocery catalogue easily. User will just need to simply touch on the picture of the item and the full detail of the selected item will be shown in the phone. If the ser is allergy to any of a particular food, the application will immediately identifiy and note the user. I think that this is a very wonderful technology being invented.
Through this site-visit i had learnt that how technology can bring us convenience to our daily lives. However, if we do not appreciate all these technology, one day they will be gone. Throught this visit, I had also leant that how will the future technology will be like and how important technology could be in our daily lives. In my opion, the trip was awesome, fun, educational and informative. Overall it was a great trip.
Let me end off with a group photo :D
